Answer:
We do our best to provide an accurate reflection of your avg price. However, Merlin can only display your portfolio based on the data you enter into it, or what it receives from the exchanges when you connect to them through the connect/Vezgo tool.
One reason that your avg prices might be incorrect is due to the limited the number of transactions the exchange sent through the API keys, sometimes missing initial purchase price transactions or errors in the data. This missing or incorrect information could lead to incorrect gains/losses, avg prices, etc. Merlin will flag them with a red dot on the assets page letting you know there is an issue.
For example, if you purchased a coin on an exchange and then moved it to another exchange or wallet, your initial purchase price transactions would be lost (not viewable from the Vezgo connection) when you import them from the current exchange or wallet. Thus, Merlin will use the current price of the deposit date as proxy price. If this is not correct, you can use the EDIT TRANSACTION function to add or update individual transactions and enter the correct purchase price.
Lastly, if there are too many incorrect or missing transactions, you can always use our global OVERRIDE edit tool to fix your cost basis in one easy step. That is why we made these tools, to put the power back in your hands!
